This past week, I was fortunate enough to take pictures of Widespread Panic, Derek Trucks, and the guitar legend Carlos Santana. I have already posted a short blog entry about Widespread Panic so this section will be dedicated to Derek Trucks and Santana.
These two legends, with nearly 30 years between them, teamed up to play at Chastain Amphitheatre for two consecutive nights. Derek Trucks and his band comprised of Koffi Burbidge, Susan Tedeschi, Yonrico Scott, Todd Smallie, Count M’Butu, and Mike Mattison would open for Santana with a one hour set, each night of this run. I was granted photo access for the first night and was able to take pictures for the first 3 songs of the Derek Trucks set as well as the first 3 of the Santana set. Below are the top pictures from both albums as well as links to view the full album.Being that I could only shoot for 3 songs, I decided to bypass using my wide angle lens and went mostly for tight zoomed in shots. I was using my Nikon D300 paired with my new Nikkor 70-200 F2.8. This is a great combination and allowed me to get 3 or so outstanding shots of Carlos. Check out the pics and feel free to leave a comment.
