

Last night, my coworker and I finally got around to experimenting with long exposures. We went to two sites, the Freedom Pkwy bridge and the 85 overpass by Atlantic Station. The best shots were from Freedom Pkwy but I would like to give the 85 overpass a second try. Overall one or two of the shots came out very well and the rest were so so. For a slight change in my standard posts about concert photography this entry is about a commissioned shoot that I completed a few weeks back. The request was to have several portrait style group and individual shots as well as live performance shots of a Christian rock band. The rock band was preparing for an upcoming show and the shoot would take place at the East West Church in Marietta, GA.

Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Cassady have spent nearly 50 years together. Since they were teens this guitar / bass combo has been making music and is most noted for the creation of Jefferson Airplane. Jorma and Jack teamed with southern legends, Little Feat, to help celebrate this momentous occasion.

Tea Leaf Green visits Atlanta for the first time without original bassist, Ben Chambers. A few months back TLG announced that Ben Chambers would be leaving the band to pursue other opportunities. Since this time, I have had the pleasure of seeing the band twice, once in Athens nearly one month ago and last night at the Variety Plahouse in Atlanta. TLG has been playing with ALO’s bassist, Steve Adams who is temporarily filling in until Reed Mathis can rejoin the band.

Widespread Panic returns to Johnny Mercer Auditorium for the first time in nearly nine years. Johnny Mercer is located inside the much larger civic center, where panic normally plays to a crowd of 10,000. It was a rare treat to see the boys saddle up for two powerful nights at the 2,500 seat venue.
